The term ‘Story Reviewers’ or ‘us’ or ‘we’ or ‘our’ refers to the Canadian company Story Reviewers as the owner of the website ‘StoryReviewers.com’ whose office is in Kitchener, ON.

The term ‘editor’, ‘reader’, ‘reviewer’, ‘proofreader’ or ‘ the team at Story Reviewers’ refers to Story Reviewers as the provider of the services to our clients through our website.

The term ‘reviewing’, ‘proofreading’ or ‘editing’ refers to the work done by Story Reviewers.

The use of this website is subject to the following terms of use:

  1. Services and payments

Story Reviewers is a real-time service that delivers professional Book Reviews and/or edits in order to boost the exposure of a client’s work. It is essential to us that clients know what to expect, and we know what to deliver.

After purchasing a service of  Story Reviewers, clients will be asked to e-mail their manuscript or book in its entirety, the way it is intended to be published. Story Reviewers then completes the appropriate services and delivers the finished product(s) back to the client. The client retains all rights to their work, as well as the Book Review. Depending on services rendered, Story Reviewers may continue to promote a new client, with their permission.

  1. Delivery and deadlines

All dates and times provided for the delivery of the document or text are estimates. Timelines may change as needed for unforeseen circumstances. The client and Story Reviewers will set a mutually agreed deadline. Any project delays will be communicated. Story Reviewers cannot be held liable after final delivery of the service to the client.

  1. The Story Reviewers Reviewer’s code of ethics

Story Reviewers reviewers adhere to a high ethical standard. That means they always strive to provide the highest standard of service, offering educated and well-considered reviews and edits, and responding quickly, clearly, and courteously to client queries and concerns.

Story Reviewers editors will only accept jobs they believe to be within their sphere of competence. If on closer examination an editor or reviewer finds he or she does not have the skills or knowledge needed to complete a job to the highest standard, the editor or reviewer will redistribute the job to another editor or reviewer; if this is not sufficient, or if the quality of the manuscript does not adhere to our standards, the manuscript will be returned to the client and 75% of any payments processed will be refunded to the client.

A Story Reviewers reviewer may refuse to edit material he or she finds personally offensive for any reason. Once he or she has accepted a job, however, the reviewer must provide the highest level of service, regardless of his or her feelings about the ideas presented in the work. At no time will a Story Reviewers reviewer insert his or her beliefs into the author’s work, by modifying text or through marginal comments, or offer commentary that is argumentative or denigrating to the work.

Some kinds of work are by nature outside our ethical code. Story Reviewers will not:

Provide content editing on university or school assignments, though they will happily provide a light-handed standard edit.

Provide support for materials that are clearly intended to be deceptive or fraudulent or that appear to be intended to support illegal activities.

  1. The client’s right to refuse the product

When services have been delivered to the client, the client has two days from the next business day to evaluate, accept or claim a re-edit.

If the text is sent back to Story Reviewers for re-editing because the client is unhappy with the original work, Story Reviewers will re-edit the text at a cost equal to 50% of the original service fee paid by the client. This fee will be incurred on all subsequent re-edits in perpetuity. The re-edit fee must be paid in full before work can commence.

Story Reviewers does not give full refunds.

  1. Recruiting reviewers for Story Reviewers & Editors Club Subscriptions

In recruiting reviewers and copy-editors for Story Reviewers, we may make use of a series of tests to determine reviewers’ proficiency in grammar and spelling, command of English, ability to spot inconsistencies, and awareness of ambiguities and textual structure. Also, we ask for and check editors’ and reviewers’ credentials, including their professional experience, formal qualifications and training. The tests are copyrighted by Story Reviewers and must not be distributed by any means or in any form.

More information on the Story Reviewers Editors Club, and its requirements, can be found on this page: https://storyreviewers.com/make-money-reading/#details

  1. Liability
